Soldier Field 10 Mile

Soldier Field 10 Mile
Chicago, IL
Conditions: Mild (60°F), No Wind

One of my favorite races. The weather couldn't have been better for this one. Tim McGraw's cousin sang the National Anthem, I think her name was Hottie McGraw if I remember correctly.

The race went off with a bang (that might only be funny to me.) I went out a little slow, for the first five miles I was fighting a minor stomach cramp. That shook off at the turn around and the last 5 miles was negative split. The last five miles I also ran with the first place woman and her training companion. Consistent 5:50's with her, it was a good challenge because there were not many people in front to catch, I may have slowed down with out her. Once I got to Soldier Field, I put the pace down and blew the lady away, I didn't want to share the big screen (or the crowd.)

So I finished, grabbed a beer, and took off for home. Tanya moved into my...our apartment that day. Fortunately I had help from my friends Richard and Corey. It was a very long day! Shoutout to Corey and Richard for helping move that day.

Average 5:52

Total 58:46 (official)

20th Place
